Medical records systems are not built for modern phone photos. A scan screenshot or a documented skin condition photographed on a 48MP camera arrives at 5-10MB, and the record system's attachment limit is often a fraction of that. The instinct is to reach for an online compressor — which is exactly when identifiable patient images end up on a server you do not control. Skwish runs the compression in the browser, so the record image is processed on the device and only the smaller result is saved. Two things separate record images from ordinary photos. First, they often need to stay legible — a medication label, a wound measurement, a printed report — so the compression target is higher quality than for a social image. Second, they carry metadata by default, and camera EXIF can include GPS. Compress to a workable size, strip the metadata, attach to the record.
