Photographing a receipt is the fast way to record spending — until the upload refuses the file. A phone photo of a paper receipt is 3-6MB, and expense platforms, accounting inboxes, and claim portals often cap uploads at 5MB per file or 10MB per batch. A month of receipts photographed on a phone is 30-60 files, so the stack fails on size long before it fails on anything else. Receipts are text on a flat surface, which compresses far better than photos of people or scenery: you can cut 70-85% and the merchant name, total, and date stay perfectly readable. Compress the set in the browser and the whole month goes through in one upload. Every line item has to survive the compression, though — a receipt nobody can read is worse than one that never uploaded. Compress on the quality slider rather than the size slider, zoom into any receipt in the preview before you download the set, and the numbers stay legible all the way down.
